The Chamber is working to ensure that businesses have access - today and tomorrow - to an educated and skilled workforce. We serve as the primary bridge between the business and education communities through intense involvement of our business members and partnerships with regional school districts. We continue to develop workforce strategies for businesses, through many initiatives to hire, retain, and advance skilled workers in the 21st century. We provide support to existing business and industry leaders in hopes of improving profitability and maintaining a quality workforce. The Chamber understands that the growth and expansion of area businesses contribute to the economic well-being of the entire region.

• Launched Young Professionals Group with over 500 members attained in first year
• Secured $75,000 consulting grant to prepare community plan for implementation of the Forward Charleston report
• Conducted Wage & Benefits Survey - over 500 local businesses participated
• Graduated 60 members of the Leadership Charleston 2008 class
• Host annual Business Education Summit - integrating over 300 business and education professionals
• Applied for and received recognition as a "When Work Works" community
• Established workforce development initiative with Trident Technical College and the Trident Workforce Investment Board
